Lanxin Meng worked really hard on the production design for Tribe, especially on the props. Lanxin made the spears, knives and the Mask. She also after meeting with Ayo sourced props such as the drum and and colourful blanket.
Not everything she made was featured in the film, but her hard work on production design really does show on the big screen.
When Ayo wrote the dream sequence he did a lot of research into how the heart pull could be done practically. After a couple of weeks Ayo attempted the piece that would act as Tikims chest. The images above are the process he went through. The video before is a pre-visualisation.
After the Pre-visualisation Ayo decided on using a lambs heart which he got from the local butchers to act as Tikims heart and then ordered a fake blood satchets. Ayo also bought a fake chest piece to help with the shape and then blood capsules so when the heart was pulled blood could drip from Tikims mouth.
